This exhibition, the first in the new Special Exhibitions Gallery at the National Museum of Scotland, tells the story of the mummification process. DHA were delighted to continue the relationship with NMS following the major refurbishment of the adjacent permanent galleries last summer.
Colour and projection is used to create an atmospheric exhibition, which displays NMS objects alongside the fabulous Egyptology collection from the National Museum of Antiquities, Leiden.

dha designs have just completed British Museum’s landmark 2012 exhibition on the Hajj. The exhibition explains the history of this deeply personal journey, using textiles, manuscripts, historical and contemporary art. The exhibition is in the stunning Round Reading Room and is a thoughtful and beautiful evocation of this pillar of Islam.
The exhibition was described in The Guardian, in Jonathan Jones’ 5-star review, as “one of the most brilliant exhibitions the BM has put on”.
dha recently completed the lighting of David Hockey’s new exhibition at the Royal Academy. dha worked closely with Hockney to light 12 galleries of his recent work, mixing daylight and artificial light to bring these astonishing landscapes to life.
DHA Designs have just completed the lighting for this prestigious new exhibition at the Museum of London. Evoking the sights and sounds of Victorian London, the design uses a mixture of colour and projection, together with conservation grade exhibition lighting to celebrate Dickens’ bi-centennial.
Highlights include Dickens’ desk and chair, original hand-written manuscripts, as well as the original Newgate Prison doors!
The exhibition was designed and curated in house, and follows DHA’s work on London Street Photography in the same gallery earlier this year.

dha designs have recently completed the lighting to six galleries at Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. The new Egytian Galleries puts some of the museums most popular and valuable objects in a new setting as part of the ongoing redevelopment of this institution. Much of the lighting was done using Xicato LED light sources.

DHA Designs are delighted to have been shortlisted for no less than five times for the 2012 Lighting Design Awards, due to be presented on 21st March, 2012. The company has entries in the Public Buildings category (Atmosphere at the Science Museum & Riverside Museum, with Inverse Lighting Design), Special Projects (Book of the Dead, British Museum), Low Carbon (Atmosphere at the Science Museum) & Heritage (National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh) categories. The competitions seems exceptionally strong this year, so to be shortlisted in so many categories is a remarkable achievement.

dha designs completed the lighting of this wonderful collection of Illuminated Manuscripts at the British Library this week. Considered possibly the greatest collection of their type ever shown together, the exhibition has over 150 manuscripts, together with royal portraiture, sculpture and maps.
Lighting these fragile works without creating shadows or glare was a challenge, but The Times described the collection as “beautifully displayed and lit”. The exhibition was opened by HM The Queen on 10th November.

The new East Wing Galleries have opened at Somerset House this week, with a new photography exhibition entitled “Amazon”.
dha designs worked with Eva Jiricna Architects to design a flexible lighting system in all of the gallery spaces. Each room has pairs of custom suspended profiles that containĀ T5 dimmable fluorescent battens creating a warm even glow to the ceiling, together with 12W LED track mounted spotlights with an adjustable zoom lens fixed to the track below, focused onto the displays.
