dha design were asked to provide the lighting scheme for the interior of the new wing of the Science Museum, sponsored by the Wellcome Foundation.
the galleries are over four floors, and feature a display of new advances ('antenna'), a childrens' gallery ('pattern pod'), and three galleries on the upper floors: 'who am i?', an exhibition on genetics, 'digital world', an exhibition on the digitisation of information and 'futurescope', a mysterious space that explores current issues and decisions in scientific research.
dha design were working in a space that already had a strong visual identity, as the blue wall lighting was a key part of the archtiects' design for the space.
gallery lighting had to complement this, but still give each gallery a distinct identity to suit the subject matter.
The galleries have won several design awards including design week, d&ad & fx magazine.
