Exterior - Selfridges façade, Birmingham
DHA Designs worked alongside architects Future Systems to design an exterior lighting scheme for the unique façade of the Selfridges building in Birmingham. The lighting design won a Commended Award in the Exterior Lighting category of 2005’s Lighting Design Awards.
The lighting design uses a very simple wash of monochromatic pale blue light from metal halide floodlights, positioned around the perimeter of site and integrated onto the existing street lighting. The monochromatic colour works exceptionally well with the cladding discs that cover the organic shape of this unusual façade.
