Permanent Galleries - Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum

DHA Designs were responsible for the lighting of the new shop, museum, gallery and library at the AELTC in Wimbledon. Working with designers Mather & Company, DHA Designs completed the lighting for the new shop in 2005, followed by the new museum, gallery and library in time for the 2006 Wimbledon Championships.  The museum is a low-ceilinged space in the basement, with no natural light.

DHA Designs made the most of this controlled environment to create a lighting scheme of amazing precision that added to the visitors’ experience. The scheme uses discreet illumination to highlight showcases, collections and the introduction of backlit floor features and curved lightboxes makes the space feel dramatic and exciting despite its physical limitations.

This project won the Public Buildings category of the Lighting Design Awards 2007.
