Permanent Galleries - V&A Ceramics Galleries
DHA Designs were delighted to work on both the Ceramics Galleries with Stanton Williams, and the Ceramics Study Galleries with OPERA. These daylit galleries were purpose built to showcase ceramics in 1852. The first phase contained around 3,000 pieces across seven galleries, whilst the second phase an astonishing 26,500 objects densely displayed across only four galleries.
The brief for DHA Designs was to retain the beauty of the daylighting but supplement it in winter and evenings, and elegant fluorescent profiles, and bespoke curved track solutions were designed. Discreet uplighting was introduced throughout to highlight the beautiful architecture. A daylight-reactive system was used to limit energy usage, and some adjustable lighting was incorporated to highlight key pieces.
