Mary Rose Museum shortlisted for Museum of the Year 2014

The Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth has been shortlisted for the Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2014, along with five other museums. The judges will announce the winner at the awards ceremony on 09 July in London. DHA Designs designed the lighting for the museum, winning the Public Building category of this years Lighting Design Awards.

The Ben Franklin Museum in Philadelphia

The Benjamin Franklin Museum is the subject of an article on the Museum + Heritage website this month. Not only is the unique nature of the man discussed, giving rise to a fascinating exhibition about life in Revolutionary America, but also the level of Anglo-American co-operation required to make the project come to fruition. We worked with Casson Mann on this project, and the American curators, Remer & Talbott.

DHA ‘highly commended’ at the 2013 Lux Awards

The DHA team were pleased to receive a ‘Highly Commended‘ for their Museum of Childhood lighting scheme at the 2013 Lux Awards, presented at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza on the 21st November.

The Lux Awards are presented annually by Lux Magazine across seventeen categories that range from product design to completed schemes in a number of different environments and decided upon by a jury of industry peers.

DHA wins Outdoor Project of the Year at 2013 Lux Awards

The DHA Designs team were delighted to win the Outdoor Lighting Project of the Year category at the 2013 Lux Awards, presented at the Park Plaza hotel on the 21st November. The judges praised the scheme for its ‘simplicity and sympathy with the architecture of the building’. The award was won against a strong shortlist of other schemes.

The Lux Awards are presented annually by Lux Magazine across seventeen categories that range from product design to completed schemes in a number of different environments and decided upon by a jury of industry peers.

V&A Theatre Gallery re-design

DHA were delighted to be asked back to re-light the V&A Theatre Galleries following an object re-display. DHA lit the original displays for the same curatorial team in 2009, and have since worked with the department on Hollywood Costume and David Bowie Is…

The highlight of the new display is the acquisition of Handspring’s Joey from Warhorse, donated by the National Theatre. We worked with the National Theatre’s in-house lighting team to recreate the lighting effects used in the production, within the museum’s conservation guidelines.
