Exterior - Mirage Volcano & Treasure Island Buccaneer Bay Las Vegas
The Volcano at Mirage and the Buccaneer Bay at Treasure Island were the first exterior lighting projects in Las Vegas that brought DHA designs to the attention of Steve Wynn.
DHA Designs collaborated with WET Enterprises in the development of the famous volcano that opened in 1989. At the time, the resort had a Polynesian theme and DHA worked closely with WET Enterprises to incorporate theatrical lighting into the water show. The Mirage was built by developer Steve Wynn and opened in 1989.
A few years later DHA Designs were commissioned to create a lighting scheme for the Buccaneer Bay show at the front of the property. Together with the Jerde Partnership and Lifescapes International, theatrical techniques were adapted for use in a harsh exterior environment. Treasure Island was opened by Mirage Resorts in 1993 under the direction of Steve Wynn.
