Restaurants - Royal Academy of Arts Restaurant

DHA Designs worked alongside MUMA architects to design this award winning lighting scheme for the Royal Academy of Arts.  This followed working with the RA’s exhibition department for five years, and a successful collaboration on the RA shop with Eva Jiricna Architects. The listed building had a decorative coffered ceiling which had to be retained.

The new lighting design creates a special lighting atmosphere during the daytime, using concealed cold cathode tubes above suspended elliptical panels, uplighting the coffers with white light. The control system changed the colour of these coffers to blue or red for evening uses and special events.

The project won the Retail, Restaurant and Hotel category at the National Lighting Awards in 2005.
