Temporary Galleries - British Museum - Book of the Dead

DHA Designs worked with LAND Design Studio on this ambitious temporary exhibition with the British Museum's Round Reading Room.  Tracing the journey of the Ancient Egyptians from death to the afterlife, this exhibition followed a labyrinthine route from darkness to light and was hugely popular with the public.
The lighting design was shortlisted for a National Lighting Design Award in 2012.

The lighting was a particular challenge as it was mostly supplied from the British Museum's stockroom, and a great variety of spotlighting and fibre optics were integrated into walls and showcases.  Each room in the journey had a slightly different feel using lighting effects and AV, until the Green Fields, where animated theatrical projectors washed the cyclorama to dramatic effect.
